Ahh, if only submission were as easy as the click of a button! Submission doesn’t come easily for me because of a condition I have, it’s called “Fleshitis”. Most of us have bouts with it from time to time. The symptoms are : I want to do what I want when I want, you’re not telling me what to do, I’m not listening and severe stubbornness. Sound familiar?
In this world of “ME” we live in, we tend to think of the word ‘submission’ as a dirty word, something confining and restrictive. The dictionary defines submit as to yield one’s self to the authority of another. It defines submission as, the condition of being submissive, humble or compliant.
The bible is pretty clear that we’re supposed to submit to the people He’s placed over us. Jesus, parents, husbands, preachers, teachers, and even government leaders. Hebrews says, obey your leaders and submit to them, for they are keeping watch over your souls, as those who will have to give an account. Let them do this with joy and not with groaning, for that would be of no advantage to you.
If we’re trusting God with our lives, then it’s easier to trust those He’s placed over us. Because ultimately, God gets the last say so every time, in every thing.
We don’t have a ‘submit’ button, but there IS a cure for the dreaded “Fleshitis”, it’s called, a big ol’ dose of Jesus! Try washing that down with a nice, big glass of “it’s not all about me”.
