My Take On It All

This has been a great, long weekend. I’m happy to say that I won the Horizon award! Which basically means, I came in second place in the new gospel category, for my song His.

I attended two seminars. One was on stage presence, the other was on songwriting. I learned some great things in both. Every little bit of knowledge helps I’d say!

There were people from all over the world! Most people here talked a bit funny, or at least I thought they did. There was some amazing talent here, and some that sounded more like drunk karaoke. I’d say, if you don’t have thick skin and you want to be a singer, or even a songwriter, get out now!

Here’s my take on it all. I know God has a plan for the songs He’s given me, period. Whether that means someone will decide they want to sing one of them and make it a big hit, or if I sing them and minister to the people around me; either way I’m blessed. I, of course, have high hopes that one day I’ll hear one of them on the radio. If that never happens, still I’m blessed!

I’m amazed at how there are only twenty seven letters in the alphabet and so many great songs can be written! I’m fascinated by how three different people can take the same three or four notes and turn them into something totally different! Music is a wonderful, infinite gift that God’s given us.

In this world, there will always be someone better. There will always be someone who doesn’t like what you’re doing. I say, as long as you are doing what God wants you to do, what else matters? I’m pleasing my God, and my friends and family love and support me. Well, most of them, anyway.

To hear the people who are most important in my life tell me that I’m good, and they love what I’m doing, that means more to me than anything! And if this is all it ever turns out to be, I’m more famous than I ever thought I’d be.
But just as we have been approved by God to be entrusted with the gospel, so we speak, not to please man, but to please God who tests our hearts. 1 Thessalonians 2:4.
