Why is it some people can eat whatever they want and not get fat, while there are others, like me, who can smell food and gain weight?
Why is it that some people lay in tanning beds, don’t use moisturizer, go to bed with make up on and have great skin, while others, like me,
fight aging tooth and nail STILL get asked if I get the discount on senior citizen day at the thrift store! Steve was mad because I didn’t take it, and thought it was funny. I, in the other hand, not so much. All I know is, that little girl had better be glad all I said was “no I do not” instead of what I was really thinking!
Why are people, who are desperate for children, unable to have any, while those who seemingly don’t care about the ones they have, able to spit them out like a Pez dispenser?
Why do some people appear to have it all together while others struggle their entire lives with hurts, habits, and hang ups?
Sometimes life doesn’t seem fair, does it? That’s because it’s not! We live in a fallen world, and sin happens. As long as we’re on this earth, we will be dealing with sin. You can either choose to be bitter or better. I’ve been bitter, and it ain’t no fun! And yes, I’m totally aware that that’s a double negative, for all you grammar nazis.
We are fighting a spiritual battle, and you’d better bet, the devil’s working overtime these days. He wants nothing more than for families to fall apart, or for people to fall into addiction. He wants friends to fight and churches to split up. He wants you to have financial troubles. He’ll isolate you and make you feel like you’re the only one who’s ever dealt with any such problem. He’ll paralyze you with guilt and condemnation. IF YOU ALLOW HIM!
If you are a born again believer, you have power over sin and the devil. He can’t win! If you’re in a bad situation, tell the devil to back off! Look up and call out to the One who saves! He wants to be your hero. He wants to swoop in and save the day! He wants us to need Him, to depend on Him for your every need. Don’t worry about tomorrow, He’ll supply the daily bread. In this world you WILL have troubles. But take heart! Jesus has overcome the world!*John 16:33
Don’t have pity parties. Trust me, your friends don’t want to be invited, and they don’t want your party favors. Don’t blame others for your troubles. Don’t be easily offended. Hold your head up and trust and obey. Just do the next right thing. Live one day at a time…one minute at a time if that’s what it takes. When you fall, look up! Jesus is there to pick you up, all you have to do is call on His name!
I waited patiently for the Lord to help me, and he turned to me and heard my cry. He lifted me out of the pit of despair, out of the mud and the mire.
He set my feet on solid ground and steadied me as I walked along. He has given me a new song to sing, a hymn of praise to our God. Many will see what he has done and be amazed. They will put their trust in the Lord. Psalm 40:1-3
