Freedom Is As Freedom Does

I’m proud to be an American, where at least I know I’m free! And I won’t forget the men who died, who gave that right to me! So I’ll gladly stand up next to you and defend her still today! Cause there ain’t no doubt I love this land! GOD BLESS THE USA!!!!!

When I was younger, all I wanted was independence. I couldn’t wait for the time when people weren’t telling me what to do and how to live my life. I wanted freedom!

Now that I’m older, freedom means something totally different. The freedom I thought I wanted, wasn’t really freedom at all. No rules, doing what I wanted, when I wanted, was actually bondage. Today, freedom is being totally and completely dependent on Christ! It means having respect for the law, and those who are in positions over me. Whether I like them or not.

There are lots of things going on in our country right now that are not good. I feel like some of our God given rights are being stripped from us and the things our nation was founded on are being trampled on. The thing is, I know who’s in control. I know who holds the future, and I know who wins in the end!

I refuse to sit around and worry about, and complain about (or at least I TRY not to complain) the things happening in this world. Instead, I choose to be informed, pray, and go on about doing whatever it is God has for me to do. I choose to be a good citizen, and do what I can, in my little part of the world. I will live a life of freedom because I pursue God’s precepts. Psalms 119:45

“Make Jesus your Lord proud of you by being good citizens. Respect the authorities, whatever their level; they are God’s emissaries for keeping order. It is God’s will that by doing good, you might cure the ignorance of fools… Exercise your freedom by serving God, not by breaking the rules. Treat everyone you meet with dignity. Love your spiritual family. Revere God. Respect the government.” 1 Peter 2:13-17 (The Message Translation)

HAPPY INDEPENDENCE DAY!!
