When I was big and pregnant with Tucker, (our son who’s testimony I can’t wait to hear!) my car broke down on a busy road, right around a big curve. I was terrified! I just knew someone was going to hit my car, causing a huge pile up, and squashing me and my baby in the process.
What did I do? I jumped right out of the car, locked the doors, and started hoofing it. This was before cel phones, so I was going to walk to the nearest store and call for help. The scariest part was not all the cars flying by, or the fact that my car could be about to cause a thousand car pile up; it was that, the only place I had to walk was a ditch, with knee high grass! Who knew what was in there!
Before I could make it very far, an old man in a truck pulled over, and before he could even speak, I slung open the door and jumped in head first! My thought was, nothing he could possibly do to me, at his age, could be worse than being squashed by cars or devoured by hidden ditch creatures.
He was extremely nice and drove me to the store. I called my mom and then he took me back to my car. By this time a cop was there with his lights on, trying to keep the pile up from happening. He suggested that I try to crank it again while we were waiting on the wrecker. It was at that point I realized that I had locked my keys in the car! Could my day get any worse?
The wrecker finally got there, and we managed to get the car out of the road unscathed. The wrecker driver even stayed with me until my mom got there!
At that point in my life, I wasn’t thinking about God very much, if at all. It didn’t occur to me to pray. It occurred to me to hop into the truck with a stranger. However, even though I wasn’t thinking about God, He was thinking of me.
So many bad things could’ve happened to me that day, but God protected me. That’s because He had a plan for me, and even though I rarely considered Him, He loved me just as much then as He does now.
If you don’t know God, don’t believe in God, or you do believe, but just don’t care what He thinks; He still loves you! He has a plan for your life! He has a desire to get to know you, and wants what’s best for you.
Back when I lived carelessly, there were plenty of times I could’ve easily been killed, but I wasn’t. If you’re reading this, that means you’re alive. If you’re alive, that means God has something especially for you! If you don’t personally know Him, then you are missing out on the best life you could possibly have. If you know Him, but don’t know what He wants you to do; ask Him! He gives wisdom if you ask. Trust me, there’s nothing better than doing exactly whatever it is God wants you to do, no matter how big or small.
God has us here for a reason. We were created to worship Him. And just like He protected me, when He was hardly a passing thought for me; He’s doing the same for you. Patiently waiting for you. Protecting you from, or pulling you out of life’s pile ups, and keeping the ditch critters at bay. He’s waiting for you.
I am absolutely sure that not even death or life can separate us from God’s love. Not even angels or demons, the present or the future, or any powers can do that. Not even the highest places or the lowest, or anything else in all creation can do that. Nothing at all can ever separate us from God’s love because of what Christ Jesus our Lord has done.
