Prodigal Praises! Movin’ On Up

We found out some exciting news last night! To some, this might not mean much. To others, I suppose it could even be embarrassing. If either of those is the way you feel, keep it to yourself! Because we are excited and you ain’t stealing our joy!

God certainly does work in mysterious ways. There’s so much none of us will understand this side of heaven. Like, why this or that happens…or doesn’t. Why some are rich and some are poor. Why some come to the understanding, at an early age, of the need for a savior; and why others seem to struggle into adulthood before true reality sinks in. Still yet, why some never realize.

I think some of us are just stubborn, rebellious jackasses who don’t want anyone telling us what to do. We don’t want anyone taking away our freedom. The reality is, living life without Christ isn’t living in freedom at all. Without Christ we’re all bound by sin and death. Held captive by the world, and our own fleshly desires. That kind of living may lead to momentary pleasure, but it never leads to joy. Joy comes from loving, and knowing Jesus Christ as your savior; and being in and doing His will.

God can reach people anywhere and at anytime. He can, and will allow whatever circumstances He seems necessary for you to come to know Him. Proof of that is, there have been several who’ve given their lives to Christ, in the county jail, in the past few weeks. We had six give their hearts to Jesus at Celebrate Recovery Friday night. And tonight we found out that, our future man of God, made trustee! Now he gets to work in the kitchen cooking, which is something he enjoys doing. Shoot, all things considered, he may as well have been elected inmate of the month, or president of the United States! God is so good!

Like I said before, if that news doesn’t excite you, that’s ok. Just keep it to yourself. Around here, at the Hawkins’ house, we praise God and thank Him for every step in the right direction.

I’m so thankful that people see fit to minister to the least of these. Times seem bad, and I guess in a lot of ways they are, but God is alive and well, and He’s changing lives!

from the day you heard it (God’s message) right up to the present. There has never been the slightest doubt in my mind that the God who started this great work in you would keep at it and bring it to a flourishing finish on the very day Christ Jesus appears. Philippians 1:6

Here is something I am still sure of. I will see the Lord’s goodness while I’m still alive. Psalm 27:13
