Back in the day, I would go out to a club, or to a party, and stay out ALL night, sleep a little while and get up and do it again the next night. We would drink heavily, act like idiots, and call that fun. Now, I call that dangerous! Not to mention, if I have a glass of wine, I’m ready to go to bed…to sleep!
Ah, the good ‘ol days! Nothing like waking up feeling sick and regretting something you’ve done. The insane thing is, how quickly I’d forget. I’d be right back out the next night, or the next weekend, and expect things to be different. If I could, I’d throat punch the old me.
The old me thought that Christians didn’t have fun. The old me thought that if you followed God, you had to be solemn and boring. What a crock! That’s a lie straight from the devil himself! People who love The Lord are a hoot! We have more fun than you can imagine! You CAN karaoke sober! It’s true, I’ve witnessed it! You can be funny without being filthy! And rap music can be great without the ‘F’ word, and without degrading women!!
Now, fun has a whole new meaning. When I have fun now I don’t wake up regretting something I’ve said or done. Well, most of the time anyway. There are times when my mouth gets me in trouble. Sometimes my mouth gets ahead of my brain! Those kind of regrets are mild compared to those from a drunken rampage!
If you’re reading this, and you don’t know Jesus; you’ve thought about it, but you’re afraid you’ll have to live a boring life…give us a try! If you’re reading this and you’re a Christian, you’ve accepted Jesus and you go to church, but you’re still hanging on to some of those hurts, habits, or hang ups; trust God with them! I promise, God will replace them with something so much better!
We serve a fun, creative, loving Father who loves to see His children have a good time. Parents, don’t you love to see your children having a good time? Well, so does our Heavenly Father! Now get out there and have some good, clean fun! Anything’s possible with God!
So, I’m all for just going ahead and having a good time—the best possible. The only earthly good men and women can look forward to is to eat and drink well and have a good time—compensation for the struggle for survival these few years God gives us on earth. Ecclesiastes 8:15
