I’m In Critical Condition! Need Help! STAT!

I love taking personality tests, and things of that nature, to see how it actually lines up with my personality. The first time I took one, I was TICKED about some of the things that were said about me. Then it hit me that while it is fun to take these personality tests, and learn more about ourselves; it’s also important to remember, that just because you have certain traits, doesn’t mean you’re stuck being that way. When you allow Christ to be the boss of you, the Holy Spirit steps in and takes over. That’s not to say that you won’t struggle, but you can always give those traits back to Him!

My personality type Sanquine/Meloncholy. Everyone has a primary and a secondary. If you’re interested, you can read about the personality types by clicking this link. Pretty cool stuff. http://www.refinedperspectives.com/personality-explained.htm

One of the traits I struggle with is being critical of others. There aren’t too many people, I encounter, that I don’t like. I’m a people person and I generally love all people! However, if I happen to NOT like you, I could possibly be your worst critic. You’d think I’d learned my lesson by now because, lots of times, the people I’m instantly critical of, those are the people God places in my path the most! Plus, more often than not, I find out they’re good people.

Don’t get me wrong I’m not mean to anyone. I can’t stand for people not to like ME. I’m really careful to only to say bad things about people to my husband and close friends, so that doesn’t even count. Plus, what I say behind someone’s back is nowhere near as bad as being mean to someone’s face. Right? Geez, I wouldn’t want anyone thinking I’m a bad person! In case you didn’t catch it, that statement was dripping with sarcasm. I’m not proud mind you, I’m just being honest.

Lately, I’ve been feeling convicted about being so critical, so here’s my goal. Since this is November, the month of thankfulness, I’m going to try to go the rest of the month without saying a negative thing about anyone. Lord help me! This is going to be so hard! Anyone else want to join me?

I’m going to try and be thankful for every person God has placed in my path, even those of which I’m not particularly fond. I’ll bet you anything that God can use a thankful spirit way more than a critical one. Prayers would be appreciated!

Don’t bad-mouth each other, friends. It’s God’s Word, his Message, his Royal Rule, that takes a beating in that kind of talk. You’re supposed to be honoring the Message, not writing graffiti all over it. God is in charge of deciding human destiny. Who do you think you are to meddle in the destiny of others? James 4:11-12
