I Love Jesus, Gay People, And Phil Robertson!

I’m not sure if this is good or bad, but I tend to stay away from topics that are blowing up my Facebook and twitter. Topics like Alabama losing to Auburn, or Phil Robertson, but today, I’m jumping in the bandwagon!

Hopefully anyone who knows me, never has a doubt about a few things. The fact that I believe the bible and love God’s Word, the fact that I love people, and that I’m a bible thumping, Jesus freak! If those things don’t show, then I’ve got some work to do! I think that’s true of all Christians, don’t you? Ok. Here comes the rant.

I’m sick and tired of people, particularly Christians, allowing certain subjects to be divisive. I’m a Jesus loving, bible thumper and I want to go on the record here and say that, like Jesus, I LOVE GAY PEOPLE! I have gay friends. I have gay relatives. I know people who are gay, that I don’t even KNOW are gay!!!

I, like Phil Robertson, may not understand the why’s or the how’s. I understand and believe, that if the bible says something is sin…it’s sin. I believe I, myself, am a sinner, and I certainly have questions that probably won’t be answered this side of glory. Thus the reason I think we should spend more time loving and less time bickering and protesting.

If you felt like someone needed Jesus, and you wanted to ‘win them over’; do you think, for one minute, that bickering, or holding up a sign, or blasting stuff on Facebook is appealing? It’s not to me. If you want me to hear you? I don’t need to feel as if you’re pointing fingers, or that somehow, you’re less of a bad person than I may be. We’re all sinners saved by grace! No doubt, we should be allowed to state our opinions no matter what our beliefs, but if you want someone to agree with you; you catch more flies with honey than vinegar. I’m just sayin’.

The enemy, the devil, Beelzebub, the prince of darkness, whatever you want to call him, is a liar and he’s divisive. He loves nothing more than to get people all riled up over something, and to cause bickering; especially among believers, but also between believers and nonbelievers. Be careful people!

Stand by your convictions. Stand up for what you believe. And if you believe them with all your heart, I’d say that nothing, not even proving your right, would be worth losing one person. And if you’re going to take a stand against sin? Don’t pick and choose the ones that are particularly bad in YOUR book. Take a stand against ALL sin.

We don’t have to agree or even get along, but we DO have to love! I think God’s pretty clear about that!

If I could speak all the languages of earth and of angels, but didn’t love others, I would only be a noisy gong or a clanging cymbal. 1 Corinthians 13:1

“The LORD doesn’t see things the way you see them. People judge by outward appearance, but the LORD looks at the heart.” 1Samuel 16:7
