If anyone tries to tell you that sin is not fun, they’re a liar. Period. Does sin have consequences? Yep. The fact remains, however, that sin is fun.
A longtime friend called yesterday, and we were reminiscing about old times. We laughed, and recalled stories about parties we’d had and crazy things we’d done, for thirty minutes. Most of the events we recalled involved legal and/or illegal party favors. We both agreed that, even though both our lives are much different now and we wouldn’t go back for anything, those were some of the best times of our lives.
We were growing up. We were learning. We were becoming the people God designed us to be. Did we take the longest, most difficult route possible? Sure did! But God has used every screw up to grow and shape us. He wastes nothing!
I don’t want anyone to misunderstand what I’m saying. I’m not condoning sin, and God knows, I wouldn’t trade the life I live for The Lord for my old life any day! I’m just saying that if someone tries to tell you that there’s no fun in sin, that’s about as far from the truth as you can get. However, I’ve had more fun and accomplished so much more doing things God’s way!
He’s allowed me to use things, that used to get me into trouble, for His glory! He’s taken things I didn’t think I was good at, and never would be, and allowed me to use those to minister to people. And not only that, because I made the decision to use those things for His glory, He made me better! I’ve done things I never, in a million years, thought I’d do! All because of Christ!!
Is there fun in sin? Heck yes! Does the fun last? Heck no! But what does last is the abundant life in Christ! There’s rewards that are much more fun, and far better than you could ever imagine; if you just allow God to have control and let Him shape you into the person HE created you to be! Want to live a wild, fun, adventurous life? Live the life God has for you! Take the narrow path! Make a decision to do right things, even when it’s difficult, and even if it means giving up something you think you can’t live without. God will replace those things with things that are so much better!
Sin is fun, but living the life God created you to live is SO much more fun! Plus, I’d rather suffer with Christ than to have all the fun this world could offer! We’ve read the end of the book! We win!
Try it! You won’t regret it! If you’re already doing it, then share your experiences with someone! Shouldn’t we want everyone to have as good a life as we do?
It was faith that made Moses, when he had grown up, refuse to be called the son of the king’s daughter. He preferred to suffer with God’s people rather than to enjoy sin for a little while. He reckoned that to suffer scorn for the Messiah was worth far more than all the treasures of Egypt, for he kept his eyes on the future reward. Hebrews 11:24-26
