Yesterday was a busy day. We were rushing around, trying to get everything taken care of before we would leave bright and early the next morning to pick up our FMoG, Tucker from prison!
I had been a nervous wreck all day. We hadn’t heard from Tuck in a couple of days. I figured they were doing the exiting process stuff, so I brushed it off. Yesterday, as I was at Walmart taking care of last minute things, I noticed I had missed a phone call. It was from a strange number so I called it back.
It was a recording from a telephone service that said, “Our records indicate that you have recently communicated with an inmate, Aaron Hawkins. An inmate at St. Clair.” What the heck?! St. Clair?! He was just at Staton yesterday?!
I called Staton to find out what the deal was, and the person who handled that had gone home already. Ok? We were due to leave at 5am to pick him up! And not just me and Steve! My mom, and my two nieces, Tori and Ivy were coming too! We were going to go to the beach for a few days. We thought it would make for a nice, smooth, transition period for Tuck.
We knew, that when we returned home, he was going to have to turn himself in on a charge they’d left off his sheet. They were supposed to run concurrent. No big deal. It was a misdemeanor. He’d just go to jail, go to court, and the judge would say, “time served”. Not the case. Because they’d left it off, he got a failure to appear, which then made it a felony, so St. Clair county picked him up from Staton. No beach trip for the Hawkins’ family! Tori + Ivy = 2 REALLY ticked off girls! They wanted to go without Tucker. 🙂 I was seriously bummed at first myself. As nervous as I’d been about the trip, I’d started looking forward to going. Then it hit me! This is totally a God thing!
I had went and spoken to the guys there, at their church service, Sunday night! Just two nights before! As some of you may have read, in my previous blog, Jail Talk, the Holy Spirit was there in that jail! He really spoke to some of those guys! A few of them knew Tucker.
It’s no accident that Tucker ended up there two days after I’d been there. Those guys will definitely be talking to him about it! Hopefully they’ll spare Tucker the embarrassing details, and won’t tease him too much about the funny stories I told about him.
I really believe that God is going to use this to minister to Tucker. I believe that one, or more, of those guys will say something to Tucker that he needs to hear. I believe that God orchestrates everything, and that even though Tuck being in jail is a result of his choices, that God will use it to work for HIS good! I love how He does that!
I’m no longer bummed, but my faith is renewed! I was uneasy about the trip anyway. God knows what He’s doing, and His timing is always perfect! Always! He’s doing a good work in our family through all this. Thank You Jesus! Besides, we closed on our new store Monday, and Steve’s chomping at the bit to get in there and start working! Now he can! We have no work scheduled for the next few days!
“When your people Israel have been defeated by an enemy because they have sinned against you, and when they turn back to you and give praise to your name, praying and making supplication to you in this temple, then hear from heaven and forgive the sin of your people Israel and bring them back to the land you gave to their ancestors. 1 Kings 8:33-34
