“Prust” VS Trust

Trusting God. Sounds easy right? I mean, just tell it to Jesus and He’ll take care of the situation! How much easier does that get? Ah. If only it were that easy, but alas, it’s not.

I know for me, I would say that I trusted God, but deep down, I’d hold on to things. I’d say that I’d given a situation to God, but I’d try to handle it myself, usually making things worse. Most of the time that would happen due to the fact that I’m extremely impatient, and God’s timing often seems as slow as Christmas!

The truth of the matter is, I didn’t trust God! It was more like “prust”; AKA, pretend trust. Anybody feel what I’m talking about? “Prusting” God is nowhere near as effective as trusting God.

I would often get angry at Him because a situation wouldn’t turn out the way Iwanted, or someone wouldn’t behave the way I thought they should. What’s the dang deal?! I had told God how bad my situation was, and what was bothering me! I asked in Jesus’ name! Shouldn’t things be better?! Shouldn’t the situation be handled? Most importantly, shouldn’t I have peace?! For the love! I gave it to God for cryin’ out loud!

Telling God something, and trusting Him with a situation are two TOTALLY different things. It’s easy to say we trust God. I mean, I know all the “Christian” things to say, but talk is cheap! Truly trusting in God; actually letting go, and letting God handle things is a choice. Period. It doesn’t matter what’s coming out of our mouths, if it doesn’t match what’s in our hearts! We may be able to fool people, but we sure as heck can’t fool God!

Each day we have to make a choice to trust God. Sometimes, for me, it’s minute to minute! After all, “I am woman! Hear me roar, and watch me fix everything!” Can anyone identify? I’m learning that my solutions aren’t always best, and that sometimes it’s best that I keep my mouth shut; and when I do? That has to be the Holy Spirit at work, no doubt!

There are always going to be unpleasant situations in our lives. There will always be difficult people we have to deal with; the world’s full of them. However, we can have peace, no matter our circumstances, if we trust God!

Trusting God comes from talking with Him, reading His word, and surrounding ourselves with others who do those things. If you’re experiencing turmoil in your life, if your nerves, and worry are making you sick, and you have sleepless nights; chances are you don’t really trust God. Make a choice today to truly trust Him! Tell Him about your situation, and walk in peace knowing that God’s going to take care of you! Believe me, HE WILL! And when worry and doubt start to creep back in, you tell that worry to “Go away in Jesus’ name”! Choose not to worry! Worrying is a choice, just like trusting God is a choice. Make the choice that brings peace!

Trust God from the bottom of your heart; don’t try to figure out everything on your own. Listen for God’s voice in everything you do, everywhere you go; he’s the one who will keep you on track. Don’t assume that you know it all. Run to God! Run from evil! Your body will glow with health, your very bones will vibrate with life! Honor God with everything you own; give him the first and the best. Your barns will burst, your wine vats will brim over. Proverbs 3 5-10
