Sometimes I just feel like, to quote my good friend Stacey, “I can’t have nothin’! Let alone nothin’ nice!” It seems like the more good God slings my way, the harder the devil tries to block it! All I can say is, too bad I’m so stubborn! I refuse to let the devil take away any of the good things God’s promised me!
Every once in awhile, I’ll come really close to saying “screw ALL this! I’m done!” Does anyone else ever feel that way? Then I remember that good things are worth fighting for! Do you think Jesus was having a blast waiting to be crucified? I think not! In fact, He dreaded it! However, it’s a good thing for us He didn’t run from His calling because He was tired and scared! Had He done that, we’d all been in trouble!
Here’s the deal. We’re all going to go through crap! Period! If we try to somehow avoid it, or throw up our hands in defeat, who might we be letting down? If we give up, and don’t fulfill the purpose God has planned for us, who’s lives might we be affecting? We can’t just focus on ourselves and how things will affect us, we have to consider all those who’s lives we touch. God always finds purpose in our pain!
The devil is a liar. He came here to steal, kill and destroy. When we give up, we’re letting him win. There’s a battle going on, and this battle isn’t against flesh and blood! It’s against mighty powers in this dark world, and against evil spirits in the heavenly places! *Ephesians 6:12* The good thing is, we have the tools we need to fight and win! Because every child of God defeats this evil world, and we achieve this victory through our faith. *1John 5:4*
I don’t know about you, but I’m tired and weary, but I refuse to quit! I won’t let the things of this world keep me from carrying out what God has for me! I refuse to let him and/or my flesh get me down! My trust is in The Lord! Because those who trust in the LORD will find new strength. They will soar high on wings like eagles. They will run and not grow weary. They will walk and not faint. *Isaiah 40:31*
If any of you are tired and weary, don’t give up! God’s ready and willing to help. All we have to do is ask!
