For The Love Of All That Is Good And Holy! Just Go Commando!

You know what drives me crazy? When something/somebody infringes on my quiet time. I NEED that time! It’s when God and I have a nice little chat. It’s when I enjoy my coffee. It’s when I write my blog, and it’s that sweet time alone, that if I don’t get, I tend to be grouchy the rest of the day. Thus the reason I get up at 4:30am. To be alone! Well, not totally alone, just me and God!

This morning I accidentally turned off my alarm and didn’t get up until 6. Steve has the audacity to be up and getting ready for work while I was trying to have quiet time. Then, he asked me for something to eat. Then he asked if he had clean underwear. What the heck?!? Could he not see I didn’t want to be bothered? I realize he needed to go to work, but couldn’t he do it quietly? Could he not go commando? What’s a little chaffing?! Don’t we have a FREAKING Hardee’s right down the road?!? I’m just sayin’. Thank you Steve for ruining my not so quiet time! Ugh!

Aw, poor Steve! I’m joking! See, the truth is, it’s my responsibility to set aside time for God. Yes, we can pray all day, any time, but He expects us to give Him our best. My best happens to be early in the morning. When I fail to do that because I’m too tired, or just simply being lazy, I’m the one who misses out. God doesn’t NEED me, but He WANTS to spend time with me. He wants to spend time with all of us! His desire is to have a relationship with us. He doesn’t want to be the friend that you only call when you need something. We all know how annoying those friends are! Shame on me for choosing sleep over time with my sweet Heavenly Father.

Just FYI, if any of you happen to run into me today, and I’m a tad grouchy, you know why! 🙂 Please extend me a little grace.

Matthew 11:28-30 “Are you tired? Worn out? Burned out on religion? Come to me. Get away with me and you’ll recover your life. I’ll show you how to take a real rest. Walk with me and work with me—watch how I do it. Learn the unforced rhythms of grace. I won’t lay anything heavy or ill-fitting on you. Keep company with me and you’ll learn to live freely and lightly.”
