Gone But Never Forgotten

I just have to say that, it’s only Wednesday, and this has been a rough week, to say the least. There’s been a lot of loss experienced by so many people.

Loss can be the relapse of a loved one. Loss can be divorce. We can experience financial loss, loss of a particular ability, loss of our sanity, and the hardest of all; we can lose a loved one in death.

Yesterday, we lost a dear friend. I’m heartbroken. He practically grew up at our house. He was one of my sister’s best friends, and like a little brother to me. We got caught shoplifting at kmart together. Needless to say, I’ll never forget that. (See the blog Bye Bye Kmart for further details) He was very funny and loved to laugh. He wasn’t afraid to help you work. If you needed someone to help you clean your house, or do yard work, he was your man. He had a smart aleck, sarcastic side, which was one of my most favorite things about him! Hilarious!

He had his rough patches in this life, like we all do. All he wanted was for you to love and accept him. He wasn’t perfect, as none of us are; but if he loved you, you knew you were loved! He’d make sure of that! His friends and family were very important to him.

In the last few years, I didn’t get to see him much, since we’d moved out of town, but any, and every time I did, I’d hear “HEY SISTER!!“, (a very long, loud, and drawn out sister) and he’d come running! He’d be laughing hysterically that he’d just yelled, and startled you in the middle of Walmart, then he’d give you a big hug. He genuinely cared how you were doing.

There are many funny stories I could tell. Trust me, he was always saying or doing something! All I know is that Tommy Wayne Walls, you will be greatly missed! A life gone way too soon.

None of us are promised tomorrow. Get your lives in order. Make amends. Love hard. Don’t be afraid of failure. Dream big. Most importantly, if you don’t know Jesus, seek Him! Talk to people who do! Find out what salvation is all about. Don’t live, what you have left of this life, in bondage to sin. Live in the freedom that’s only found in Christ! Don’t be fooled by things this world will tell you! There’s a heaven and a hell! Which do you choose? If you’re a believer, it’s time to move! We should have a heart for the lost! We’re all required to share what God’s done in our lives and to tell people about salvation! Let’s do it!

Brothers and sisters, we don’t want you to be ignorant about those who have died. We don’t want you to grieve like other people who have no hope. We believe that Jesus died and came back to life. We also believe that, through Jesus, God will bring back those who have died. They will come back with Jesus. We are telling you what the Lord taught. We who are still alive when the Lord comes will not go into his kingdom ahead of those who have already died. The Lord will come from heaven with a command, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trumpet call of God. First, the dead who believed in Christ will come back to life. Then, together with them, we who are still alive will be taken in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. In this way we will always be with the Lord. 1 Thessalonians 4: 13-17
