God is so cool sometimes! I mean duh! He created the likes of me, and a few of you :-). Seriously, nothing. Not one thing. Is an accident. Not even the time my neighbor, and now friend, hit me head on as I, sat still mind you and, watched in amazement. I sure am glad it happened. In the grand scheme of things, cars are worthless, but friendships are worth more than silver or gold! Oh, and Ruben? I’m sorry I misspelled your name in yesterday’s blog. It’s Ruben, not Robin. My bad!
God has a way of placing people in our lives. And like I said, it’s never an accident. Our God is a god of purpose! He’s very intentional.
Yesterday I was having a bad day. I was sad about our boy. Look, normally, I’m bad about feeling bad, because I feel bad. but I’ve learned, over the years, that there’s some times we have every right in the world to feel sad and hurt. I allow myself time to be upset. Then I put on my big girl panties, pull up my bootstraps and pray! We all know that sometimes even praying doesn’t make us feel all that great. We’re human. That’s kind of where I was yesterday.
Later that afternoon, a lady stopped by selling advertisements for a radio station. She came in, chatted for a few minutes, then headed out the door. The next thing I knew she was coming back in. Her car had somehow locked with her keys in there, and it was running! This car was a newer car, one of those that doesn’t use an actual key! That’s not supposed to happen! Bless her heart, her husband was an hour away. Needless to say, we ended up talking the whole time. I can tell you, I believe it was a divine appointment.
Being the self centered person I am, I thought to myself “God is so sweet! I get to minister to her, and impart some infinite, godly wisdom!” And hopefully I did! However, later I realized the true sweetness of this encounter.
God was gently reminding me that I’m not the only one with problems. He also reminded me that life is much sweeter when we don’t focus so much on ourselves. He reminded me that we plan our ways, but God directs our steps. And if that’s true for me, then it’s also true for every other child of His; and that includes the wayward ones!
I’m thankful that God saw fit to orchestrate such a sweet reminder, with such a sweet person. I do have to say though, I’m a tad bitter about how flawless her skin was! I thought she was in her early 30s, then later she said she was 46! What the heck?! Not a line on her face! Now God has to orchestrate an encounter with someone not so pretty, so I won’t be jealous! I’m joking! Sort of. Ahem. Seriously, if you get stuck at our store in the next few days, please don’t feel like you’re the “not so pretty” one I was asking for! I really was JK!
“You shall not covet your neighbor’s house; you shall not covet your neighbor’s wife (or her skin), or his male servant, or his female servant, or his ox, or his donkey, or anything that is your neighbor’s.” Exodus 20:17 emphasis totally mine!!
