First off, I just want to thank everyone for reading my blog. It means a lot to me for y’all, even those who don’t agree with me, to check out Ripping People A New One.
One thing I’ve found interesting (and quite humorous) is that whenever the title includes anything remotely resembling a reference to sex, a female body part, or a warning that it may be offensive, my stats jump way up. I’m certainly not complaining mind you! I’m merely stating a fact.
Sometimes that’s good, sometimes it’s better. What I mean is, if you disagree with a person’s political views, they’ll chime in as if there’s no tomorrow. Which makes me happy, because I love getting feedback from my readers, and hearing other’s opinions!!What I don’t like is when people chime in and call me stupid. I’m good with a person disagreeing with me, but I didn’t know you had to be rude, to disagree with someone. I also don’t care so much for someone trying to play devil’s advocate, to which I, for the most part, will not engage. Sometimes my flesh, and my pride get the better of me and I fall prey, but I’m not proud of that. So why, after dealing with such, would I want to tackle a subject such as Common Core? I guess I’m just a glutton for punishment. 🙂
My belief on Common Core is that we all have one, or at least we should! No matter which political party we belong to, what denomination we label ourselves, the color of our skin, how much money we have (or don’t have), how smart we are, how educated we may be (there’s a difference between being smart and being educated. True wisdom comes from The Lord. IJS), no matter how pretty society may say we are, no matter our shape or size, we should all have one thing in common. We should ALL have Jesus Christ as our Common Core!!!
No matter what does, or doesn’t go on with our government, no matter what does, or does not happen with the weather, and no matter where our recycling really goes, God is on the throne, and He’s in control!!!
Speaking of recycling, just to clear the air, I think recycling is great! If it was actually done right (which, it is in some cities, but not most) it’s a great idea! We all have a responsibility to take care of everything God has graciously given us. But we could use all the paper and plastic we want and we’re not going to run out of resources. And that’s a fact that I refuse to debate. I Just wanted everyone to know I don’t think recycling, in and of itself, is bad. Discussion over. My blog. My rules. 🙂
Now back to our core, Jesus! People, we’ve got to start paying close attention. God has a job for His people. If you’re a follower of Christ, then there’s something you should be doing! Again, I don’t care which political party you belong to, things in this world are jacked up! They’re certainly not the way God intended. In fact, most things are opposite to what God’s word says.
Right now, in these days, He’s calling His people to band together. He’s calling His people, who may not agree on every issue, to come together because, at the core, we should believe the same! Jesus Christ is THE WAY, THE TRUTH, and THE LIFE. NO ONE comes to The Father but THROUGH HIM! John 14:6. And that’s not my opinion. That one came straight from Jesus!
There are souls to be saved! Are we doing our best to impact the world for Christ? Are we witnessing to people we encounter? Are we living our lives in ways that, when others see us they see Jesus? Or are we walking around blending in, looking and behaving no differently than the rest of the world? If that’s the case, we should ask ourselves, what’s at the core of our lives? What, or Who, is most important to me? What do I value the most?
I wish I could tell you that, at any given time, should anyone ask me those questions, my answer would be Jesus every time; I’m sad, however, to admit that might not be true. I, sometimes, do get sidetracked. Thankfully, the Good Shepard always comes and finds His little lost sheep! He takes care of His own! Without Jesus, we’re ALL rotten to the core! The Message Bible says in Jeremiah 17:9-10 “The heart is hopelessly dark and deceitful, a puzzle that no one can figure out. But I, God, search the heart and examine the mind, I get to the heart of the human. I get to the root of things. I treat them as they really are, not as they pretend to be.”
Romans 12:1-2 So here’s what I want you to do, God helping you: Take your everyday, ordinary life—your sleeping, eating, going-to-work, and walking-around life—and place it before God as an offering. Embracing what God does for you is the best thing you can do for him. Don’t become so well-adjusted to your culture that you fit into it without even thinking. Instead, fix your attention on God. You’ll be changed from the inside out. Readily recognize what he wants from you, and quickly respond to it. Unlike the culture around you, always dragging you down to its level of immaturity, God brings the best out of you, develops well-formed maturity in you.
PS. I think Common Core curriculum is a joke! And quite frankly, it’s a particularly scary one at that! IJS
