Life can get crazy really quickly! One minute you’re smoothly sailing along, and the next you’re in choppy waters. I’m the kind of person who’s easily thrown out of the boat.
I don’t like change, of any kind! And moving to this new store has thrown me right on over, and I can’t seem to find my floatation device! I’ll get my head above water, then “blub, blub, blub” I’m right back under!
Just to clear the air, for those readers who may take everything literally, I’m not actually drowning in water; it’s a metaphor. What I am drowning in is a TON of papers stacked on my desk! A sea of unorganized chaos, with the waves crashing over my head, making it hard to breathe. There! I said it! I feel better already.
When things get out of order for me, I’m a mess. I eventually get back on track, but it takes me a minute! And by “minute” I mean like two years. That being said, should you walk into my office in the next couple of years; don’t judge me! I’m in my transition phase. 🙂
This happens spiritually as well. When I’m not putting God first, I’m a mess!! I don’t treat people well. I don’t respond to daily events very well. I just might rip you a new one without batting an eye. In fact, everyday life becomes a struggle for me if I don’t put Jesus first.
Don’t get me wrong, there’s struggles in life even when I do have Jesus in the proper place! However, when I’m trusting Him, and everything’s in order, I don’t feel as if I’m drowning, because I know that He’ll reach down, pick me up, and keep my head above water!
Here’s the deal. Anyone, and I mean ANYONE, who’s not putting God first will eventually be completely underwater, so to speak. You might sail through life and look as if things are fine, but they’re not! We’re all created to worship the One True God! And at the end of the day, when we meet our Maker, anyone who hasn’t accepted Jesus Christ as lord and savior will not go to heaven. They will go straight to hell! I’m serious! Hell is real! And no, God doesn’t send people to hell. People choose not to accept Christ.
If you feel as if you’re drowning in this life, reach out for the ultimate life preserver! Jesus Christ. No matter how deep into sin you are, He’ll pick you up, dry you off, and set you on dry ground!
James 4:7-10 So let God work his will in you. Yell a loud no to the Devil and watch him scamper. Say a quiet yes to God and he’ll be there in no time. Quit dabbling in sin. Purify your inner life. Quit playing the field. Hit bottom, and cry your eyes out. The fun and games are over. Get serious, really serious. Get down on your knees before the Master; it’s the only way you’ll get on your feet.
