This was a busy, fun weekend. My mom, sister and niece came for a visit, which is always great! I’m thankful for my sister taking Tuck to watch my nieces, Tori and Ivy, do their halftime show Friday night, which gave me a chance to get out of the house awhile! I wanted to go to the game too, but when I asked Tucker if he minded me tagging along he said, “I’d rather you didn’t.” Well alrighty then.
Tucker’s friend Jake came home for a surprise visit! He’s in school in Orlando so they haven’t seen each other in awhile. Jake’s girlfriend Ashley came and got Tuck, and he spent the night with them at Jake’s mom’s. When they brought Tuck home I cooked supper for them, and we had a nice visit. I have to say, I’m so proud of the man Jake has become. God’s brought him so far in the last couple of years. He’s a totally different person, and I’m very thankful that Tucker has friends like him, and Ashley. I love to see God change a person’s life! It never gets old, and it always amazes me!
Unbeknownst to Tuck, (and much to Steve’s chagrin) while he was at a friend’s house watching the game Saturday, I got him a puppy! She’s SO adorable! She had been found, along with a sibling, dumped on the side of the road. I felt as if it might do Tuck some good to have some responsibility. Being that he’s a tad OCD right now, he was kind of grossed out when we told him she had fleas. He almost handed her back to me, then he changed his mind, and decided he’d keep her. She had been found, along with a sibling, dumped on the side of the road. She was covered in fleas, scared, wormy looking, and scrawny but we brought her right on in, cleaned her up, gave her some TLC, and made her a member of our family!
That’s how God is with us! When we find ourselves feeling as if life has dumped us on the side of the road, and we’re covered in fleas, wormy looking and scrawny, God grabs us up, picks off our fleas, “deworms” us, fills us up, and makes us members of His family! He’s not one bit grossed out by the fact that we’re covered in the fleas of sin. He’s not bothered by the fact that we’re wormy with guilt and shame, and He loves nothing more than to fatten our hearts with peace and joy! He heals all our wounds! Replaces our cold, hardened heart with a soft, warm, pliable one and makes us pure and clean! What a sweet God we serve! Now if God will help Tuck take care of this puppy, who no longer has fleas or worms, or a name, we’ll be doing alright!!
He heals the brokenhearted, binding up their wounds. Psalm 147:3
