Thuggin’ Ain’t Easy! Especially At A Holiness Funeral!

Tucker and I attended our friend’s mother’s funeral Monday. It was in a tiny, country, holiness church, and it was packed! Had the fire marshal shown up, they’d surely been given a fine! Apparently they did not have air conditioning because it was hot as blue blazes! I thought poor Tucker was going to have a panic attack because he kept announcing that he couldn’t breathe. Finally, someone opened up the doors to let in the cool breeze. I was glad it was standing room only, and that we were in the back.

Neither of us had ever been to a holiness funeral before. I can tell you this, they do a LOT of singing! The funeral was scheduled to start at 12 noon. We got there a little after 11:30 and they were already singing. Around 12:30, after the first preacher, and and the deceased lady, Kathy, aka the COMPLETELY HEALED, rejoicing with Jesus lady’s husband had spoken, we took a cue from the gaggle of little boys, who were sitting on the front steps, and went outside.

We’d brought Sadie with us, so Tucker got her out of the car to let her move around and potty. Tucker had said that if they get out the snakes, that he was going to turn Sadie loose :-). Thankfully, at least while we were there, they didn’t get out the snakes! Anyway, the boys loved Sadie! As I watched Tucker interact with those boys, and I saw Tucker! The real Tucker! His sweet smile, and boyish charm. That carefree, charismatic personality that people can’t resist. And even though he was wearing his hat backwards, and his arm is covered in tattoos, there wasn’t a trace of the thug that satan, and this world convinced my boy into being. He was SO sweet!

Again, after having a really bad couple of weeks, God is so sweet to show me that He is in control, and for me to keep on believing in complete healing for Tuck! I just wish I didn’t have to “shhsh” him so much! God love him. He inherited his momma’s great stage voice :-). In other words, he’s loud! In his defense, he is pretty much deaf in his right ear. Deaf or not, Tucker, just like me, loves an audience! God’s going to use that for His one day! Mark my words!

Loud or not, and even during the bad times, I’m thankful that we still have Tucker! He keeps me on my toes, and we’ve never been closer! Even though I DO get on his last nerve a lot of the time.

Every time I think of you, I give thanks to my God. I always pray for you, and I make my requests with a heart full of joy. Philippians 1:3-4
