To start off with I’d like to share a comment from my year end review, here at WordPress. The WordPress.com stats helper monkeys prepared a 2014 annual report for this blog. Here’s an excerpt:
The concert hall at the Sydney Opera House holds 2,700 people. This blog was viewed about 23,000 times in 2014. If it were a concert at Sydney Opera House, it would take about 9 sold-out performances for that many people to see it. My busiest blog day was September 10. 688 people read my blog titled “Just Another Brick In The Wall”. In 2014 “Ripping People A New One” was read in 37 different countries. All years combined, if memory serves me correctly, this blog has been read in 60-something different countries!
I shared that with y’all, not to brag on myself but , to say “WOW! GOD SURE IS GOOD AIN’T HE?!?” I mean, I guess to some people it’s not a big deal. I’m sure (actually, I KNOW) there are plenty of blogs with way more readers, in way more countries than I could ever imagine! But for a simple gal, from Fort Payne Alabama, such as myself, shoot fire! I may as well have been published in Time Magazine, or The Huffington Post, or whatever smart people read!!! I look at it this way. Even though, in the grand scheme of this great, big universe, those are very small numbers. However, it’s WAY more than this girl ever thought possible! Not to mention, that’s just that many more people who’ve heard about Jesus!! Not to mention my mistakes and mishaps, and the dirty laundry of those I’m closest to, and even those whom I may only briefly encounter. No one is safe! Nothing is too sacred! Just know that if we cross paths, you could end up in my blog!!! Bwahahaha! However, should you end up here, in this blog, with your name in print; just know that whatever I write has been prayed over, and no matter how embarrassing the story I tell about you may be, you can rest assured it’ll be used to glorify God! Eventually we all suffer for Christ right?!
Seriously, my goal is to always glorify The Lord and to give Him credit for anything good that comes from me! I want this blog to be relevant, and interesting to ALL people! Not by watering the gospel down in any shape, form, or fashion, but by being transparent and real, and by letting people know that living for God isn’t about perfection! Living for God is about LOVE! It’s about the desire to do the right thing, not to earn God’s favor, or to look good in the eyes of our peers. It’s about doing the right thing because we love Jesus and have a REAL, and personal relationship with Him! Living for Jesus is about putting others before ourselves, and loving others as unconditionally as humanly possible. Most importantly, living for Jesus is KNOWING that there’s a God who loves us unconditionally, and who wants nothing but the best for us! A God who, when we DO screw up, (and we WILL) will always be there waiting for us to come back. He’ll never leave us!
One of the best compliments (as far as this blog is concerned anyway) that I’ve ever received was from a friend of mine, who happens to be an atheist, and I quote “You know me — atheist latte-sipping ninny liberal — so I disagree with you a lot of course. But you got skill and I love reading your stuff.” I believe that’s what Paul meant when he said, in 1 Corinthians 9:19-23, “Even though I am free of the demands and expectations of everyone, I have voluntarily become a servant to any and all in order to reach a wide range of people: religious, nonreligious, meticulous moralists, loose-living immoralists, the defeated, the demoralized—whoever. I didn’t take on their way of life. I kept my bearings in Christ—but I entered their world and tried to experience things from their point of view. I’ve become just about every sort of servant there is in my attempts to lead those I meet into a God-saved life. I did all this because of the Message. I didn’t just want to talk about it; I wanted to be in on it!”
I don’t know about y’all?? But I don’t just want to talk about the Message! I want to be in on it! I want to share Christ with as many people possible in 2015! I’m thankful for the platform God’s given me and for those of you who read it! I have to say though that I’m a tad more thankful for those who follow (as in actually clicking the ‘follow’ button on the blog site) the blog and for those who share it! But I love all y’all the same! 🙂
