To say that last week was one of the worst weeks of my life would be an understatement. It’s not a story I can tell however, I truly believe it’s a story that will eventually be told! And when it’s told, God will be glorified! He doesn’t waste anything! That horrible week is precisely why, I believe, God has allowed some funny things to happen. Like my bathroom incident! Last night there was yet another incident involving poop, but this time (thank God) I wasn’t the one panicking!
Around 1am Tucker comes barreling in our bedroom. Not something anyone, who’s sound asleep, appreciates. Especially when the reason is because his dog had diarrhea in her crate! Picture a 23 year old, in straight up panic mode saying “Mom! Sadie had diarrhea in her crate! What do I do?!” Mind you, he wasn’t worried about his dog. He was worried about having to clean up the mess!
Now, I’m not the sweetest human being on the face of the earth when I’m awakened suddenly. My first thought was “Clean the crap up dimwit!” And that’s putting it nicely. Thankfully the Holy Spirit took over and I (sort of) sweetly instructed him to take the crate outside and clean it tomorrow.
I was about to doze off when I heard the most ungodly amount of gagging! It sounded like someone who may have contracted food poisoning, or drank way too much vodka (not that I would know), or whatever else makes you violently ill. And that was just from picking up the diarrhea filled crate! Bless his heart! After hearing the barrage of extreme gagging, I thought I’d better get on up and assess the situation. I went to the bathroom to find that, in his panicked state, he’d first dragged the crate into the bathroom, thus spilling poo into the floor. Let me tell you, this was a sight to behold!
God love him! He was bending over, not getting on his hands and knees, or squatting like a woman would when tackling such a job. Why? Because he was scared of getting any poo on him! He was taking a paper towel, wiping up a tiny splatter, and tossing it in the trash. In a voice that sounded near tears, he said “Help me.” Which, of course, caused more laughter. Just when I thought it couldn’t get any funnier, he thought he’d put his big toe in doo-doo!! He let out a guttural “AARGH”, seemingly choking back tears, and held his big toe pointed straight up as if it were on fire, so as not to catch his other toes on fire. I have to say, it was one of the funniest sights I’ve seen in a while.
I may not find it too funny when I find out how many of my washcloths he threw away. I saw, and instructed him to throw away two! Who knows how many got tossed after I left! Eh, witnessing that would almost be worth not having a washcloth to my name. Plus, I can replace those! But I can’t replace that memory! And that my friends, is how our God works! Maybe we can’t forget when bad things happen, but we can move on! Why? Because God always sends a calm in the storm! He always sends sunshine after the rain! And when you have the Holy Spirit living inside of you, no matter your circumstances, even when everything’s covered in crap, you can ALWAYS still find joy and peace! Because even when your heart feels like it’s breaking, you know that God is at work and that’s why we can be so sure that every detail in our lives of love for God is worked into something good!
