What happens when our hands are tied? Not literally silly head! I’m speaking figuratively. We find ourselves in a situation and we’re at our wits’ end. We’ve done everything humanly possible to fix it, and, basically all we’ve done is put a little duck tape on it. Again, I’m speaking figuratively. I mean, you can’t literally put duck tape on a situation like a relationship, for instance. If that were the case, I know a few personalities I’d duck tape right on up! And I’m sure there’d be someone, somewhere slapping some tape on me! Anyway, what do we do when we’ve reached our wits’ end? We do what we should’ve done from the get-go! We hand it over to God! We hit our knees and pour out our hearts. We fast. We allow God to help us put away pride and self pity, and see the situation for what it is. A spiritual battle!
That, my friends, is what we do when our hands are tied, and we’re at our wits’ end! It doesn’t mean we’re giving up! It means that we’re giving in! Giving in to God means that we’re telling Him we can’t fix it on our own. Giving in to God means that we will do everything in His power, and not our own, to battle against the evil of this world. Giving in is not giving up! It’s surrendering to a God who’s in control and big enough and strong enough to handle everything we could ever possibly face! Giving in means walking in faith knowing that no matter what the outcome, we will be ok, because God’s got our backs! Giving in means that even in our darkest times, there’s hope! Because The Lord is our Rock! Our ever-present Help in times if trouble! He is our peace!
When we find ourselves in a situation we can’t fix; let’s not give up! Let’s put down our duck tape and give IN! Being at our wits’ end is not the worst place we can be. Sometimes, it’s the only place where we realize just how much we truly need our Savior.
they reeled and staggered like drunken men and were at their wits’ end. Then they cried to the Lord in their trouble, and he delivered them from their distress. He made the storm be still, and the waves of the sea were hushed. Psalm 107:27-29
