As most of you know, I used to write about our son Tucker a lot. I would’ve kept on too, except he snapped on me, post brain injury, and told me to stop writing about him. Well, sorry about his luck! Today I want to tell y’all how our son is doing! Y’all, God is SO good!
The other day we ran into our friend Jimmy. The conversation went something like this: Jimmy: Hey, I saw a guy, in Walmart the other day, who had Tucker’s skin stretched on but I don’t think it was Tucker? Steve: He looked a lot like him huh? Jimmy: No. It was Tucker alright! I just can’t remember the last time I talked with Tucker and him sound so good! He was just so clear headed and….well, like the old Tucker. Me: I know! We were talking the other day about how nice it’s been having Tucker back. Jimmy: I just wanted to cry standing there in Walmart! Me: Me too! Steve: Me too! Me: Yep, we both want to cry every time we think about how far he’s come. Y’all, GOD IS SO FAITHFUL!
After a couple of attempts, Tucker is now able to work, and keep a job! He takes it seriously too! He’s taking care of his business and his own things! His recovery is nothing short of a miracle! I’ve known of people, with way less severe head injuries, not recovering anywhere near as well as Tucker! That, my friends, is the power of prayer! He’s learning coping skills to deal with the anxiety and anger that come with a TBI, and doing quite well I might add! For that I’d just like to give a shout out to Mr. Gerrell Jones, Tucker’s counselor and, above all else, his friend! I really believe God placed Gerrell in our lives, and he’s been a HUGE blessing to the entire family! I know that Gerrell would give God all the credit, but we’re thankful he’s a willing vessel! Now, we totally trust Tucker, and don’t worry that, when he leaves the house, he’s going to get in trouble! Y’all have no idea how good that feels! Tucker is a fine young man! God isn’t finished with him mind you! But then again, He’s not finished with any of us is He?! I sure hope not!
When God tells us something He means it! Even when we get weary and feel like giving up on something, or someone, God never grows weary! He never gives up! His promises are true! Many times I’ve wanted to quit. Many times I’ve doubted. I have been let down so many times. Not by God mind you, just by people and life in general. This life can make you afraid to hope. But, when our hope is in The Lord, we never have to be afraid to hope! Why? Because we certainly can KNOW, beyond a shadow of a doubt, that God has our backs! And not only that! But we can know that, in ALL THINGS, God works for the good of those who love Him, and are called according to His purpose. *Romans 8:28 AMEN?
I thank God , with everything in me, for the work He’s doing in our son! And not just in our son! I firmly believe (and KNOW) that this work is contagious! I can see God working in all those in Tucker’s life! Look out world!!!! God’s doing amazing things! People will see and know there is a God, when these lives are transformed!
And while I’m at it, people better wake up! If you don’t believe that, every day we’re allowed to live here on this earth, we are getting closer to end times, you need a reality check. Some of you might think I’ve heard that all my life, and quite possibly you have! I don’t claim to know the how’s, the where’s and the whys. All I know is that it will happen! With all that’s going on in our country, now’s not the time to dilly dally spiritually! If the things going on in our country, and with our government doesn’t bother you?! Please, check yourself! The Message bible says this in 1 Thesselonians 5:2-11. “I don’t think, friends, that I need to deal with the question of when all this is going to happen. You know as well as I that the day of the Master’s coming can’t be posted on our calendars. He won’t call ahead and make an appointment any more than a burglar would. About the time everybody’s walking around complacently, congratulating each other—“We’ve sure got it made! Now we can take it easy!”—suddenly everything will fall apart. It’s going to come as suddenly and inescapably as birth pangs to a pregnant woman.
God didn’t set us up for an angry rejection but for salvation by our Master, Jesus Christ. He died for us, a death that triggered life. Whether we’re awake with the living or asleep with the dead, we’re alive with him! So speak encouraging words to one another. Build up hope so you’ll all be together in this, no one left out, no one left behind. I know you’re already doing this; just keep on doing it.” Don’t be one of those complacent people. Don’t walk around with your head in the clouds thinking you’ve got it made. Be alert and ready! Spread hope! Love y’all!
