So….I rang in New Year’s Eve by hacking up a lung! Not a fun evening I must say. And here I am a week later still hacking and profusely blowing my nose! Not to mention having sometimes painful ears and muffled hearing! I should own stock in Kleenex! However, after two shots, two prescriptions, and having spent well over $100, I feel as if I’m on the mend! Despite my rough start, my outlook on the upcoming year is still positive! Mostly.
Last year was a doozy! I can’t say that enough! I’ve lived in a grief fog for a year now, and honestly, I barely remember any of last year. I know I haven’t been a very good friend and neighbor, and I certainly haven’t been a good business partner! Grief doesn’t happen only because of death. Grief happens for many reasons, and we lost our boy on September 7, 2014. We’ve all had plenty of reasons to suffer grief. He’s not the same Tucker he used to be. Some of that is good! And even if there are things that are not so good, I trust God to use them for His glory!
We’ve watched our son struggle for over a year. He still has lots of struggles. There are many that come with having a TBI. We’ve struggled in dealing with him, and sometimes failed miserably. Especially me. Our lives were turned upside down on that day and they’ll never be the same. Ever. Justice has not been done yet, but I also trust that God is going to handle that as best He sees fit. And I will bug the crap out of the Shelby County DA until God tells me to stop! 🙂 This year is going to be a great year for my family! All of us!
Now, my outlook on the world is not quite as bright as my outlook for my family. However! I know God is in control! I trust Him! And I know that from great tragedies come great leaders! Raise ’em up Lord! Raise ’em up! I tell you, it pains me to see the direction our country is headed! All the things that go against God and His word! And all the while we (The Church) sit back and seem to be quiet, and some even seem to agree?! I understand that we’re held to higher standards. I understand that we’re to keep the peace whenever possible. I understand that we’re to love all people, but at what point do we take a stand?!
I’ve learned that I should keep my opinions to myself when it comes to politics, but stating facts about our leaders doing wrong things?! Should we not speak up against such things?! Especially if our leaders claim to be our brothers and sisters in Christ? I also realize that we shouldn’t disrespect our leaders even when they are wrong, but wrong is wrong. Right? It truly pains me to see so many in the world who are deceived. Scary! And it’s painful to see so many who feel entitled to a handout. Who have we become?! All the division and fighting?! And I gotta tell y’all… It’s our leaders, and the media’s fault! Our current administration has caused more division than any other! Especially where race is concerned, but also in many other areas. Shame on them! And shame on us! Together we stand! Divided we fall! We’re falling.
It’s time we wake up! In my opinion, you would think one wouldn’t even have to be a christian to see what’s going on! If you’re an American citizen who loves your country, you should be worried! I guess the Holy Spirit has to reveal certain things though. But, the bible warns of of all this stuff! It should be no surprise! 2 Timothy 3: 1-5 says, “Remember this: There are some terrible times coming in the last days. People will love only themselves and money. They will be proud and boast about themselves. They will abuse others with insults. They will not obey their parents. They will be ungrateful and against all that is pleasing to God. They will have no love for others and will refuse to forgive anyone. They will talk about others to hurt them and will have no self-control. They will be cruel and hate what is good. People will turn against their friends. They will do foolish things without thinking and will be so proud of themselves. Instead of loving God, they will love pleasure. They will go on pretending to be devoted to God, but they will refuse to let that “devotion” change the way they live. Stay away from these people!” May God have mercy on us! Let’s pray for our leaders and our country! And I’m preaching to myself! I struggle with praying for the president. I’m asking God to help me with that. It’s so hard, sometimes, to pray for those who seem to do more harm than good. Or is that just me? Just remember! No matter what all may come to pass, no matter what persecution we may have to suffer, we win in the end! Love y’all!
