Just to catch y’all up on things….since I wrote the blog below a lot has happened. After we bought our old house, Tucker got out of prison, relapsed after 2 months, disappeared for a few months, ended up in jail in Miami, came home ready to change his life, ended up with a traumatic brain injury, journeyed down the road of healing from a TBI, (aka hell) relapsed again, (aka hell on top of hell) decided own his own to go to rehab, and is now seeking the Lord and is a totally different person! Same, but different! Meaning that he still has the personality of real Tucker, but none of the yucky personality traits of addict Tucker.
Now, if I were to say that we didn’t miss Tucker, I’d be lying! But if I were to say that we did miss Tucker living in our home, I’d be lying as well! Steve and I are thoroughly enjoying empty nesting! It’s about $#!* time! 🙂 We are also prepared to have him live with, or near us when he gets out of rehab, because as long as Tucker is trying to do what’s right, we will help him! I say all this to say one thing. I still feel exactly the way I felt in the blog below!
Our family has been through a lot! I can’t say that there haven’t been times that our faith took a a hit. Just like every human being on the face of the earth, there have been times when we’ve doubted, and wondered where the heck God was hiding! I can tell y’all that I’ve lost my religion so many times in the last couple of years that there were times I wondered if I would ever find it! Our house is still not finished! And I can assure y’all that God is not finished with any of us either!!! We are all works in progress, trying our best to get through this thing called life! <Thanks PRINCE rip!
Here’s the deal. One day, Lord willing, our house will be finished! One day, Lord willing, Tucker will be on his own, married, having me grand babies, and doing what God has called him to do! But one thing that’ll never happen this side of Heaven??? God will never be finished with us! God is always faithful! He will always push us to grow and to grow closer to Him! He never gives up on us! Now, enjoy the blog below!
As I sit here, with my door open, listening to the birds chirping, I’m reminded of how the bible tells us that God takes care of them. The birds don’t worry about what they’ll wear or what they’ll eat. And if God loves them, and takes care of them, how much more does He love us! Ah! What a wonderful way to start my morning, basking in the pretense of God’s peace. I should’ve known that wouldn’t last long. Ugh!
The next thing I know, the reality of my world sets in! Close quarter living! Ugh! The dog starts jumping at the cat. The dog gets no reaction, so the whining starts. I hear a huge fart to my left, then another fart down the hall to the right! Then, if I’m lyin’ I’m dyin’, the dang dog farts! So much for serenity! Believe it or not, I’m pretty sure one of the birds farted as they’ve all flew off far, far away! Heck, I too want to fly far away! But just as I’m about to pray for God to whisk me out of here, that’s when He reminds me of how incredibly blessed I am!
God’s blessed my family with SO much! Yeah, I guess some might say we go about things in weird ways. I mean, we bought an old, run down house and moved into a camper! Then we bought a store that needed quite a bit of work which, by the way, HAD to be finished quickly, which put our house on hold. And yes, we tend to do things slowly sometimes, but guess what! All this will have been worth the sacrifice when all is said and done! All the close quarter farts, all the fighting over the bathroom, the lack of privacy, and all the other annoying, redneck things that come with camper life; because our family will have grown closer, we’ll appreciate what we have, and we won’t be in debt up to our eyeballs! Sounds like a plan to me! Ah….I think I hear the birds again! Nah, just a squeaky fart from down the hall. Thank you Lord for family, and working intestines! And thank You for reminding me of what’s important!
Don’t be obsessed with getting more material things. Be relaxed with what you have. Since God assured us, “I’ll never let you down, never walk off and leave you,” Hebrews 13:5
And don’t forget to do good and to share what you have with others, because sacrifices like these are very pleasing to God. Hebrews 13:16
