Super Hero In Training. (And any other acronym for S.H.I.T. you can think of!)

Have you ever heard the phrase, “you need to get your sh*t together”? I can tell you this, I’m ashamed to admit, I’ve used this phrase, on more than one occasion! In particularly when talking to, or about our son, Tucker.

* Disclaimer* For the sake of not offending, for the rest of the blog I will use the word crap; even though, clearly, the two words have the same meaning and the same intent. That’s another subject for another blog, and I’ll definitely cover that subject one day! Anyway, moving on.

The fact is, when people are in the throes of crap, whether it be addiction, or any sin for that matter, they know they need to get their crap together! They don’t need any of us to remind them. It’s an easy, go-to phrase to say to someone who’s struggling. If it were only as easy, when you’re in the middle of it, as it is when you’re on the outside looking in!

There has been a lot going on with our boy lately. He’s been in jail for about four months. This time hasn’t been so easy. Typically, Tucker is the life of the party no matter where he happens to be. This time I’ve seen a more sad, depressed Tucker. That’s not necessarily a bad thing, mind you! I hope he’s seeing that life isn’t all fun and games, and that he’s coming to some harsh realizations.

God had mercy on him in court last Thursday! The judge sent him to rehab! This is his last chance, and the judge made that very clear. This will be a fight for his life! There is so much more at stake this time. Y’all please pray that he does well, and that he, once again, puts God first in his life! Until he does though, be praying that God protects him from evil people who want to see him fail. Pray that he is completely, and miraculously healed from what the drugs did to him. Pray that relationships are restored. Pray that he sees the crap he’s been through, the addiction, the brain injury, the relapses, all the mistakes he’s made, not as failures, but as learning opportunities! Pray that he will, one day, use these things to speak life into someone else who is going through the same thing! Pray that while he’s healing he will see this as working on his testimony! And pray that when these things happen, God gets all the credit!

I want to share an epiphany I believe God shared with me! I woke up from a dead sleep, in the middle of the night and this is what God told me. Y’all ready for this? This is exactly what I heard. SH*T IS USED TO FERTILIZE. Did y’all get that?!? Crap, poop, waste; the stuff no one wants on their hands, is used to fertilize!!!!! *Fertilize: make (soil or land) more fertile or productive by adding suitable substances to it.*

So, when you see one of those people, you know, the ones people love to judge because they’re the dregs of society? You know, those people you love to make memes about and make fun of? Those people many don’t want to touch? The person you try to avoid making eye contact with because you’re afraid of them? Just know this! The crap they’re wallowing around in now just might be fertilizer!!!!!! And one of those dregs of society just might be the person who saves the life of one of your loved ones! Your loved one could easily be one of those people! No one, I repeat no one, is immune to crap!

The next time I feel the need to tell someone to get their crap together, I hope God brings these things to my memory! I pray that I will, instead, remind them that God will use the crap they’re in now to fertilize the ground ahead of them! I pray I remember to tell them that today’s crap can be tomorrow’s green grass! The seeds we plant just might be in some good, fertile ground! God doesn’t waste anything, not even shit!

“Other seed fell into the good soil, and grew up, and produced a crop a hundred times as great.” As He said these things, He would call out, “He who has ears to hear, let him hear.” Luke 8:8

“The Lord is the One who will go before you. He will be with you; He will not leave you or forsake you. Do not be afraid or discouraged.” Deuteronomy 31:8

If anyone wants to write Tucker a letter of encouragement, or send a card, message me! I’ll give you his address! It would do him some good to know people still care!
